A week full of professional development activities allowed employees to learn and grow as part of the Association for Talent Development’s Employee Learning Week, Dec. 4-8, a national event designed to showcase the important link between developing employees’ skills and achieving organizational results.

A series of online and campus workshops were organized by the Office of Professional and Organizational Development, the Center for the Practice and Scholarship of Education, and Logan Library to allow Rose-Hulman faculty and staff to develop new skills and learn about new technology. The institute recognized employees who support employee learning and development.

“We’re joining other organizations in realizing that a skilled workforce is an important asset in today’s knowledge-based economy,” says Dwuena Wyre, Rose-Hulman’s director of professional and organizational development.

Campus activities included a Path to Publication Workshop in which faculty and staff members learned skills to write fearlessly, promote scholarship through new media venues, and be informed about copyright and contracts. An in-service program updated faculty and staff members about regulations in the federal government’s Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. The FERPA information sessions were facilitated by LeRoy Rooker, senior fellow at the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

Online seminars and webinars throughout the week included: Achieving Your Goals, Connecting with Peers in the Workplace, Outlook Calendar Tips & Tricks, Creativity Bootcamp, Leading and Working in Teams and Creating Customer Value.
